Meet Joseph Maron, LPC
A little about me, and what you can expect when we work together.
I’m a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania and a doctoral student in human sexuality at Widener University. I work individually with adults around neurodivergence, sex, relationships, and gender.
My eight years in this field began in harm reduction and community mental health, including three years at a methadone clinic in Philadelphia. That work taught me to start with the life someone is actually living: their priorities, their circumstances, and the changes they want to make.
I’m also neurodivergent. I bring that perspective to the work without assuming that your experience is the same as mine.
What it’s like to work with me
I’m direct and collaborative. I’ll ask questions, share what I’m noticing, and make room for you to disagree. You don’t need to arrive with the right words or a clear explanation of everything that’s happening.
Some sessions are a place to sort through something difficult. Others focus on a pattern, a decision, or something you want to try differently. We can use structure when it helps and leave room to think when that’s what you need.
How we get started
We’ll talk about what brought you here, what you hope will change, and what has or hasn’t helped before. You can ask about my approach and let me know what would make sessions more workable for you.
We’ll return to your goals as we go. I want you to be able to tell me when something is helping, when it isn’t, and when we need to approach it differently.
